Music in the margins

These are hard times for institutions. Whatever they are, they're going through a difficult period. There are of course funding problems, but also problems of political priorities. Musical institutions are suffering terribly. Keeping one's eyes fixed on the future of these institutions is doubly depressing. First, it's because it is marked for decline; and then because we basically can't do much about it.
